Department of Cooperative through Bami Dunya Cooperative store, Leh revived a Cooperative Consumer retail outlet at Chuchot Yokma on May 17.

Executive Councillor, Cooperative, LAHDC Leh, Stanzin Chosphel was the chief guest.

Councillor Chuchot, Mirza Hussain; Deputy Registrar Cooperative, Leh, Dr. Mohd Abass; Sarpanch and Nambardar Chuchot Yokma; Assistant Registrar Cooperative, Leh Skarma Tashi; Supervisor Cooperative, Tsering Angchok; a representative from Block Development Council and other concerned Society representatives from Chuchot were also present during the inaugural ceremony.

EC Stanzin Chosphel said that the Cooperative Department through various types of Cooperative Societies has been providing various services to the public, including quality consumer goods at fair price, marketing of local vegetables, fruits, pashmina, and other produce. He stressed upon the public to take full benefit of the services.

Deputy Registrar Cooperative, Leh added that the from decades Cooperative Societies have served the public and are popular among the public especially for providing essential goods of daily use. However, over the years many of the Cooperative Societies discontinued owing to various issues. He added that in the last few years, a good number of Consumer retail outlets have been revived by the Cooperative Department in many villages with positive responses from the public.

DRC Leh advised the Society representatives in the smooth running of the outlets and assured all support from the department. He further said that many of the common services (of CSCs) are being proposed to be provided through Cooperative Societies as per recent instructions from the Ministry of Cooperation, Govt of India which will diversify the service avenue of the Cooperative Societies.

Sarpanch and Nambardar of Chuchot Yokma and other PRI members expressed sincere gratitude to the Executive Councillor, Councillor, and Cooperative Department for reviving the outlet and assured to run it for the benefit of the public with full devotion.
