College teacher association Ladakh delegation meets UoL Vice Chancellor

A delegation from the College Teacher Association (CTA) Ladakh, led by President Nasiruddin Khafi, met Vice Chancellor of the University of Ladakh, Prof. (Dr.) Saket Kushwaha, at his residence in Purig Guest House, Kurbathang, Kargil on March 2, to discuss key concerns of college teachers.
CTA members Nasir Shabani, Tsewang Gyaltsan, and Aga Syed Mussavi (Assistant Professors, GDC-Kargil) were part of the delegation.
During the meeting, Nasiruddin Khafi welcomed Prof. Kushwaha and congratulated him on his appointment, expressing confidence in his leadership to enhance academic excellence.
The discussion focused on pressing issues, including the administrative authority of college teachers, service records, promotions, transfer policies, and in-service PhD permissions. The delegation also highlighted concerns about teacher deputation to the university and submitted a memorandum outlining their demands.
Prof. Kushwaha acknowledged the concerns and assured prompt action on issues within his jurisdiction. He also pledged to take up matters requiring government intervention with the Secretary of Higher Education and other relevant authorities.
In his concluding remarks, Prof. Kushwaha urged CTA members to continue their dedicated service and reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a supportive academic environment for college educators in Ladakh.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing their resolve to collaborate for the advancement of higher education in the region.
