CEC Tashi Gyalson reviews progress of Mission Organic Development initiative
Adv. Tashi Gyalson, Chairman/CEC of LAHDC Leh, chaired a meeting on November 13 at the Council Secretariat’s Conference Hall to review the progress of the Mission Organic Development Initiative (MODI) with key stakeholders.
Stanzin Chosphel, Executive Councilor for Agriculture; the Chief Agriculture Officer, Leh; the Chief Horticulture Officer, Leh; the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Leh; the District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Leh; the Deputy Director of CAD; the Deputy Registrar of Cooperatives, Leh; scientists from DIHAR; and other officials were present at the meeting.
The Chief Agriculture Officer, Leh, delivered a presentation covering areas such as organic certification, farmer support through subsidies, collaborative projects with allied departments, and the establishment of marketing divisions.
A comprehensive discussion was held on the Mission Organic Development Initiative's current progress. The CEC announced the formation of a committee to monitor the initiative’s progress and directed the creation of a marketing team to strategize the promotion and sale of local produce and address any grievances from farmers.
He further highlighted the importance of engaging with the army to discuss procurement and pricing for locally produced vegetables from Ladakh, and to collaborate with the Hotel Association and vegetable vendors.
