CEC Tashi Gyalson holds interactive session with Bar Association members in Leh

Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, convened an interactive session with members of the Bar Association, Leh, on November 14 at the DC Conference Hall, Leh.

The meeting was attended by Bar Association President Mohd Shafi Lassu, along with senior advocates and other members of the association.

President Lassu expressed gratitude to the CEC for organizing the session and lauded his proactive approach in resuming discussions on Ladakh-related issues with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). He highlighted the association’s confidence in the CEC’s leadership to navigate these discussions in Ladakh’s best interest.

During the session, the Bar Association submitted a memorandum of demands, including:

  • Establishment of a High Court Circuit Bench in Leh.
  • Provision and transfer of land for an advocate colony.
  • Reservation of seats for Ladakh's Bar and Bench members in the newly allocated additional judge posts in the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
  • Advocate Welfare Fund.

An in-depth discussion on each demand followed, with valuable inputs from all attendees.

In his concluding remarks, CEC Tashi Gyalson commended the association's active participation and acknowledged their critical role in Ladakh’s progress. He assured them of his commitment to addressing the issues raised in the memorandum and pledged financial support for legal reference books for the Bar Association members.
