Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, along with Member of Parliament Ladakh, Mohmad Haneefa Jan, visited the proposed site for the construction of the new Kargil Airport at Wakha on August 13.

The CEC was accompanied by Councillor Shargole, Mohd Javed; BDO Shargole, and local representatives from the adjoining villages of Wakha.

CEC Kargil and the MP Ladakh inspected and assessed the land's feasibility for the airport's construction.

It was noted that a team of officers and officials from the Airport Authority of India, Indian Air Force, and Directorate General of Civil Aviation had visited sites at Wakha, Kargil, and other areas of the district in 2021 to evaluate the feasibility of constructing airports in these locations.

CEC Kargil stated that he, along with the MP Ladakh, would take up the matter with the Ministry of Civil Aviation, LG Ladakh, and other relevant authorities. He further added that the next steps will be taken accordingly.
