CEC Kargil inaugurates poultry distribution under subsidy scheme
Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, inaugurated the distribution of poultry units under the LAHDC subsidy component at the Poultry Farm in Kurbathang, Kargil on June 7.
Dr. Jaffer highlighted the economic and nutritional benefits of the initiative, which aims to uplift the weaker sections of society. He emphasized that the distribution of poultry would not only boost the local economy but also provide a vital source of nutrition. “These birds require no special feed; household leftovers suffice for their diet, making them a practical option for families. Additionally, they provide eggs, which contribute to household nutrition,” he noted.
The subsidy scheme specifically targets Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) families, ensuring that the benefits reach those most in need.
Following the flag-off ceremony, the CEC inspected the Stock Assistant Training Institute and stressed the importance of maintaining high operational standards.
The event was attended by Dr. Gulzar Hussain, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kargil; Dr. Ghulam Mohd, Deputy Director of Farms, UT Ladakh; Dr. Leela Banoo, Poultry Development Officer; Mansoor Ali, Manager of Poultry Farms, Kurbathang; Mukhtar Khan, Incharge of Stock Assistant Training Institute, along with other officials.
