Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, CEC, LAHDC Kargil, inaugurated a mobile medical unit for CHC Sankoo on June 18, generously provided by NHPC Kargil under their CSR and SD initiative.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Shrikant Suse, Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil; Rajkumar Chaudhary, Director Technical and Projects NHPC; Jitendra Kumar, General Manager/HoP Nimo-Basgoo PS & Chutuk PS; along with other NHPC officials and District Hospital Kargil officers.

During the ceremony, NHPC officials briefed CEC Kargil about the mobile unit's facilities, including labs, biochemistry, haematology, urine examination, ECG, glucometer, dental chair, incubator, oxygen cylinder, and essential medicines. They emphasized that with a doctor, nurse, and pharmacist on board, the unit could function effectively as a mini hospital.

The primary objective of the mobile unit is to provide medical services to remote areas of the district, bringing healthcare directly to people's doorsteps.

CEC Kargil commended NHPC for their CSR initiatives benefiting society, particularly marginalized communities. Expressing optimism, he encouraged NHPC to continue their CSR efforts in the future.

CEC Dr. Jaffer also praised NHPC's hydro development projects in Ladakh and highlighted Kargil's potential for generating hydroelectricity. He called for the initiation of new hydro projects in the region to harness this potential fully.
