The five-day total knee and hip replacement surgery camp was inaugurated by CEC, Hill Council, Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan on August 24.

The surgery camp was organised by Baqirya Health Care and Research Center (BHC&RC) Kargil in collaboration with the Department of Health, LAHDC, Kargil. The camp will be held from August 24-28 under the supervision of Operating Faculty, Dr. Atique Vasudev, Director Knee Division Medanta, the Medicity Gurugram, Haryana.

CEC Feroz Ahmad Khan expressed gratitude to the volunteers of BHC&RC Kargil and appreciated the impressive philanthropic works being carried out by the organization in providing particular health-related services at the doorsteps of the people especially for the marginalized sections of the society. He said that the humanitarian services they are extending are beyond doubt incredible and urged the organization to hold such more camps in the future for the benefit of the needy patients.

He also said that LAHDC, Kargil is fully committed to providing health-related services to the people of the district, and stated that necessary financial help will be provided to the patients coming from marginalized sections of the society in case of costly treatments. He further added that free lodging provisions have been kept at Kargil House, Srinagar for the patients visiting Srinagar city for medical checkups.

EC Health, Mohsin Ali hailed the social services being carried out by BHC&RC since its inception and said that their voluntary work is notable. He further said that the development of any society is a collaborative effort which is evident from such camps.

DC, Kargil, Santosh Sukhadeve expressed gratitude to the volunteers of BHC&RC for successfully executing such resourceful camps to provide health-related serviced for the people of Kargil. He requested the organizers to hold such camps for other health-related issues as well. 

Highlighting the activities of BHC&RC, Vice President, Dr. Oliyat Ali said that the first-ever knee and hip replacement surgery camp was held in Kargil in 2019, where around 23 successful knee replacement surgeries were conducted, along with 1 successful hip replacement surgery. He also said that this year, around 50 patients have registered for knee replacement and 4 patients for hip replacement surgeries.

Dr. Oliyat also thanked Director Knee Division, Medanta the Medicity Gurugram, Haryana, Dr. Atique Vaudev for his continued voluntary services for the people of Kargil.
