Awareness session on CrPC, RPC held in Leh

With an aim to create awareness about the CrPC and RPC, an awareness session was conducted under the chairmanship of Avny Lavasa DC, Leh on January 3 at Leh.
The awareness session was attended by all the SDMs, district officers, Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars and Ex-Ens of PWD.
Avny Lavasa, DC Leh stressed upon the district officers and officers of Revenue Department to have the thorough know-how of the procedures to handle criminal proceedings and about punishments under RPC to delegate the role as Executive Magistrate.
She urged the officers to have implementing plan to pass orders to initiate any proceedings to avoid disrespect of power and erosion of credibility.
She emphasized on communication with public and proper information on time to superiors as the key to deal with law and order situations successfully.
She said that credibility on part of every officer among public and police helps in handling public in trouble situation. She mentioned about the importance of civilian control and urged the officers to analyze the situation and be aware of other options while handling any kind of criminal proceedings under CrPC.
Moses Kunzang, ADC, Leh said that the session has been a learning experience for all. He urged the officers to use it in the field when they get magistrate duty and interact with the public.
He further said that every crowd is different depending on the situation. Such awareness helps in handling problems in the times of trouble. He urged them to abide by the principle of natural justice and give chance to everyone by listening to all the people.
SDM Khaltsi, Sachin Kumar gave a power point presentation on CrPC and RPC explaining every section in detail citing examples.
DC Leh gave answers to all the queries of the officers who shared their doubts and experiences.
