Annual winter camp for students of Gya Meru concludes
With the participation of around 50 students of Gya-Meru and Upshi area, the 16-day long winter camp organised by the Youth Association of Gya-Meru concluded on December 31.
Gyal P. Wangyal, Deputy Chairman LAHDC, Leh was a chief guest while Tsering Paldan, Councilor Igoo was a guest of honour on the occasion.
The winter camp was organised from last year under the leadership of camp coordinator Urgain Norboo. Activities including an Ice Hockey game, ice born activities, project, research-based activities on Ladakh’s rich cultural heritage including a workshop on Ladakhi traditional song Junglu was imparted.
Appreciated the initiative of youth for organising the winter camp in Gya successfully, Gyal P Wangyal said games like Ice–Hockey will not only engage youths in sports activities but will raise the standard of the Ice Hockey game in Ladakh in years to come.
He also praised the projects and presentation prepared by students on various themes based activities.
Tsering Paldan, Councillor Igoo also appreciated the organisers and assured to support such camps in the future.
Sarpanch Gya-Meru, Skarma Sonam, Member, National Conservation Foundation (NCF), Goba, members and villagers were also present on the occasion.
