Administrative Secretary of the Cooperative Department, UT Ladakh, Bhupesh Chaudhary, chaired the monthly review meeting at the Civil Secretariat, Leh, on March 5.

The meeting focused on the observance of the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC) in Ladakh. The Secretary directed officials to formulate an annual action plan and calendar of events for IYC celebrations. He instructed the Additional Registrar, Cooperatives, to incorporate the IYC logo in official letterheads and emails to enhance visibility.

To ensure widespread awareness, the Secretary emphasized the need for publicity and media coverage of cooperative initiatives. He also directed the nomination of a dedicated nodal officer to oversee IYC-related events and ensure alignment with the IYC theme.

Additional Registrar, Cooperative Department, UT Ladakh, Sajjad Qadri, presented a detailed review, covering key areas such as Monthly PPT submission to the Ministry of Cooperation, Progress under MPACs, Formation of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Course of action for defunct Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and Computerization of the Office of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS). The Secretary instructed Assistant Registrars (ARCs) of Cooperatives to achieve set targets under various cooperative schemes and to coordinate with NABARD for PACS member training programs. Additionally, ARC, Ladakh, was tasked with preparing a draft PPT for the upcoming meeting with the Ministry of Cooperation on March 12.

The meeting was attended by Additional Registrar, Under Secretary-to-Secretary, Deputy Registrar, and Assistant Registrars of the Cooperative Department from Leh and Kargil. Officials stationed outside Ladakh participated virtually.
