48 cases disposed of in National Lok Adalat

Cases requiring immediate attention were disposed of and resolution of disputes was made during the National Lok Adalat day on December 10 at District Court complex, Kargil.

The day was organized by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kargil under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and carried under the Chairmanship of Sanjiv Kumar Bhagat, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority/Principal District & Session Judge Kargil.

During daylong proceedings, 57 cases were taken up for hearing out of which 48 were disposed of. The court also issued on spot orders for payment of settlement amount worth ₹ 45, 74, 415 on account of fine, compensation and insurance claims in favor of petitioners. 

NI Act cases under Section 138, Criminal Compoundable Cases, Negotiable Instrument Act Cases under Section 138, Bank Recovery Cases, MACT cases, Labour Dispute cases, Pre-Litigations, Electricity Bills (Excluding non-compoundable),  Water bills (Excluding non-compoundable), Matrimonial disputes, land acquisition cases/ land disputes pending in district courts, Service matters relating to pay and allowances and retirement benefits, Revenue Cases pending in district courts and High Courts, other civil cases like rent, easmetary rights,  injunction, suits etc. were taken up for hearing.

A number of cases were resolved by pre-negotiation and persuasion of litigants for settlement of disputes amicably in the Lok Adalat. Besides, notices were issued to concerned parties prior to Lok Adalat for deliberation and discussion on the issue of settlement of disputes. Massive awareness campaign across the district was also initiated by the DLSA for settlement of disputes of litigants on large-scale.
