42 candidates attend 21-day entrepreneurship development training plan

A total of 42 candidates successfully completed the 21-day long training of Entrepreneurship Development Programme on November 10 at Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Leh (J&KEDI).

Avny Lavasa, Deputy Commissioner, Leh was the chief guest of the occasion. Tundup Dorjay, Owner, Overland Escape, Sonam Tsering, Secretary, All Changthang Pashmina Grower Cooperative Society was also present.

Addressing the young candidates who have completed the training, Avny Lavasa said, “It is very appreciable to see that youths of today are coming up with new ideas and courage to start their own enterprises rather than looking for conventional government jobs. This step of yours will create job opportunity and contribute to the economy also".

“There will be a problem and hurdles at the initial stage of starting up something new but that needs to be taken as learning stage”, she added while motivating the participants.

She further assured every possible help and support to the startup in establishing the unit.

Dorjay Wangchuk, Executive Manager, JKEDI Ladakh Division stress on the importance of getting the Geographical Indication tag of the product which is produced exclusively in Ladakh such as Pashmina and the strengthening of Skill development institute in the district itself.

Briefing about JKEDI schemes and the start-up businesses, he said, “We are focusing more on the rural enterprises to create more job opportunity in far-flung villages. There is need of establishing more of manufacturing unit and to empower the locals.”
 
While interacting with one of the trainees about the experience and benefit, Stanzin Palmo said, “The training of Entrepreneurship Development Programme by JKEDI is very beneficial for the startup who wants to establish a business. The 21 days training imparts us about the management, maintaining accounts, leadership quality, planning, organizing and many other things.”

She further added that the training proves as a support system to their ideation and objective to achieve it.

Tundup Dorjay, Owner, Overland Escape also shared his success story and motivated the youths.
