2nd Lieutenant Governor of UT Ladakh, Brigadier Dr. B.D Mishra sworn in
Brigadier Dr. B.D Mishra (Retd.) took oath as the new Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh on February 19 at Raj Niwas, Leh. The oath was administered by the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Justice N Kotiswar Singh.
Advisor Umang Narula read out the warrant of appointment of Brig. (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd.), as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. CECs of LAHDC Leh and Kargil; MP Ladakh, Justice Tashi Rabstan, all administrative secretaries, and other dignitaries attended the ceremony.
Ladakh Police accorded a guard of honour to Brigadier Dr. Mishra(Retd.) at Raj Niwas Leh. He was welcomed at Leh with Ladakhi tradition and culture.
The President of India appointed BD Mishra as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh after accepting the resignation of Radha Krishna Mathur. Brigadier Dr. B.D. Mishra(Retd.) is the second LG for UT Ladakh after the first LG Radha Krishna Mathur who served Ladakh for three years and four months i.e. from 31 October 2019 to 11 February 2023.
Brig. Mishra is a former Brigadier of the Indian Army and is the former commander of the counter Hijack Force of the National Security Guard, also known as the Black Cat Commandos. He served in all three major wars forced on India. Sino-India War in 1962, Indo-Pak War in 1965, and Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. Besides Brig. Dr. BD Mishra (Retd.) volunteered to join the Kargil War against Pakistan in 1999.
He has previously served as LG of Arunachal Pradesh.
