120 farmers attend awareness programme in Stakna

Around 120 farmers from Tukla Phulak, Stakna, Matho and Chushot villages joined one day farmer’s awareness programme under Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa (GKMS) on November 28 at High Mountain Arid Agriculture Research Institute, SKUAST- K, Stakna.
The awareness programme was organized by Agro-Meteorological Field Unit (AMFU), SKUAST-K Leh.
Sonam Lotus, Director, Meteorological Centre, IMD, Srinagar was the chief guest and Dr. Din Mohd. President, LEHO was the guest of Honor.
Dr. Dorjay Namgyal, Head, KVK Leh spoke on the importance of organizing this day.
Dr. Din Mohd, President, LEHO thanked SKUAST-K Leh for organizing this day and also Sonam Lotus for timely providing weather-based advisories for the benefit of local farmers of Leh.
He said that farmers should take due note of all the advice of the scientists and advised to go for organic agriculture.
Sonam Lotus spoke about salient features of Weather-Based Farm Advisory Service through Meteorological Centre and issuing of crop and location-specific weather based agro advisories for the benefit of farming community.
Dr. S.K. Chauhan, Head CAZRI RRS, Leh also spoke on the occasion.
Razia Sultan, Director LEHO, Dr. Maheshwar Singh, Programme Coordinator, KVK Nyoma, scientists of HMAARI/KVK Leh/KVK Nyoma were also present.
