12 injured in building collapse near Kabadi Nallah, Kargil
A building collapse near Kabadi Nallah in Kargil town left 12 people injured, triggering an immediate and extensive rescue operation. The operation was spearheaded by SSP Kargil and involved coordinated efforts from the Ladakh Police, UTDRF, Revenue Department, 121 Brigade of the Indian Army, MC Kargil, Health Department Kargil, and volunteers from Al-Reza Health Care & Research Foundation Kargil, Ladakh (ISK), and Baseej e Iman (IKMT).
All injured individuals were safely evacuated from the site. Following the incident, Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhone, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Shrikant Suse, and Senior Superintendent of Police Kargil visited the collapse site to assess the situation. They also visited the District Hospital to monitor the condition of the injured and issued immediate directives to hospital authorities to provide comprehensive medical care.
In response to the incident, DM Kargil has ordered an enquiry, to be conducted by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kargil. Additionally, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed by PS Kargil, registered under FIR No. 31 U/S 125(a) BNS, and an investigation is currently underway.
The District Administration remains in close contact with the injured, ensuring that relief is being provided through the Red Cross Society. Authorities have also issued strict directives to the MC Kargil and the Revenue Department to monitor vulnerable areas closely to prevent similar incidents in the future.
