Youm-e-Quds observed: in solidarity with the oppressed victims of Palestine

Like in all parts of the world, thousands of people from in and around Leh participated in the protest march against the genocide in Gaza by Israel. After observing the Friday prayers people gathered at the Jamia Masjid Leh and started the rally that passed from main market Leh and concluded at Polo Ground Leh on 25 July.

People were carrying placards and banners supporting Palestine and shouted anti-America and anti-Israel slogans against killing the innocents especially women and children in Palestine and marked their support to the innocent victims of Gaza. The protestors demanded an end to Zionist regime in Israel.
 
International Quds day is an annual event held on the (Juma tul vida) last Friday of Holy month of Ramazan that was initiated by the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979 to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and oppose Zionism as well as Israel’s control of Jerusalem and capture of Masjid Al-Aqsa by Zionist.

The Quds day is the day of unity among Muslims and their solidarity with the innocent Palestinian nation as well as the day of the awakening of the world people’s conscience. This day holds significance not only for the Muslims but it is humanitarian obligation to express solidarity with those people whose rights are being violated by the so called super powers of the world and we all need to stand against this evil.

While marking support to the Palestinian, President Ladakh Buddhist Association Dr. Tondup Tsewang highlighted that we all must condemn the killings of innocents and Human Rights Violation in Gaza. These should be resolved with unity and dialogue is the only way to resolve this issue. People of all religion must stand together against such acts.

Syed Naqi Shah said, “We have gathered here to oppose the genocide by Israel and condemn America for supporting and defending Israel. We are not against Jews, but we are against Zionist regime. Now is the time to support humanity and stand against what is wrong despite of whatever faith we hold”.

Molvi Mohd Abbass, Imam Jumma Sofi Noorbakhsi added that Israel has forcefully captured the Masjid Al-Aqsa and until and unless the Holy Mosque is freed and the so called super powers cease brutality against innocents in Syria, Iraq and Palestine, this day in support of the oppressed shall continue.
 
Speaking at the occasion Sheikh Saif-ud-Din, President Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam said that unless Israel stops attacking on Gaza, India should not continue any kind of diplomatic relations with Israel.

Alhaj Sheikh Ghulam Hadi Phyang, President Majlise Ullema said the presence of Buddhist Community in this protest truly reflects the unity and communal harmony of this region and is an example for the whole world. He strongly condemns the killings in Palestine.

The speakers further expressed their resentment over all kinds of atrocities, the unrest in Iraq and Syria or the terrorist attack in India and expressed solidarity with all oppressed people of the world and appealed the government to cut all diplomatic ties with these countries.

At the end a resolution was passed on behalf of Ladakh Muslim Coordination Committee Leh to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi; Union Minister for External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj; Union Minister for Home, Arun Jaitley and Deputy Commissioner Leh, Simrandeep Singh condemning the brutal aggression and indiscriminate bombing of Israel on the unarmed population of Gaza resulting in heavy causalities of civilian population. They appealed the Govt. of India to condemn Israel aggression and use its powers to stop massacre of innocent citizens in Gaza and to cease air strikes with immediate effect.

More than 4800 Palestinian have been injured and more than 700 Palestinians including women and children are reported dead since Israel began airstrikes at Gaza on 8 July, 2014.

Students of Islamia Public School, Imamia Model School, Imamia Mission School, Lamdon Model School, Govt. School Chuchot Shamma and Moravian Mission School, members of Imamiya Youth Association, Ullama Committee, Anjuman Imamiya, Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam, Noorbakshia committee and thousands of people also participated in the rally.
