Sixth Parliament of the World's Religions took place at the Salt Palace in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, USA from 15th to 19th October. The five-day conference had more than 10,000 visitors from 50 religions and 80 different countries.

People from different religions came under one roof to share their beliefs, learn about each other’s faiths, and to find common ground to discuss some of the most pressing matters facing humanity today and to work toward peace and ecological harmony.

Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena was invited by the UNICEF to attend the conference.  He participated and shared his views at various programs such as ‘Global Interfaith WASH Alliance’, ‘Revival of Buddhism in India’ and programs on empowerment of women, etc.

The idea of the conference was to bring together people of diverse religions to talk about what works and does not work in trying to solve problems such as war, hatred, climate change, wasteful consumption and income inequality. 

Imam Malik Mujahid, Chair of the Parliament Board of Trustees, said, “The Parliament is the largest summit of interfaith activists around the globe which provides listening, learning and sharing opportunities.” 

Renowned Muslim, Hindu, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist and Jain leaders made history during the last day of the Parliament of the World’s Religions, pledging to combat climate change through the power of faith, organized and led by the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance.

The Parliament of the World’s Religions is the oldest, the largest, and the most inclusive gathering of people of all faith and traditions. The first Parliament took place in 1893. Since, this historic event has taken place in Chicago, USA; Cape Town, South Africa; Barcelona, Spain; Melbourne, Australia.
