Chelum-e-Hussaini observed in Kargil

Thousands of mourners from all villages of Kargil participated in Chelum-e-Hussaini, beating their chests and backs with chains, chanting slogans and weeping on December 14 at Kargil.
The procession passes through Main Bazaar Kargil via, Islamia School Chowk, Lal Chowk, Khomenie Chowk and concluded at Inqalab Manzil (Qatil Gha) and Hussaini Park Kargil.
Religious Scholars threw light on the philosophy of Karbala and prayed for peace, prosperity and communal harmony in the country and majlis concluded with Ziyarat-e-Arbayeen.
The speakers also condemned innocent killings all around the world and urged the people to follow the teachings of Karbala and to imbibe the values of Ashurah in themselves.
Every year Shia Muslims mourn the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (Alaihesalaam), Grandson of Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) who was martyred in the deserts of Karbala in 61 AD, for 40 days from 1st of Muharram to 20th Safar according to Islamic calendar and concludes with the Chelum-e-Hussaini on the 40th day after Ashura.
District Administration has made all arrangements for successful and smooth conclusion of the Chelum processions and according to SSP Kargil Sujit Kumar, police department has made adequate arrangements for security and traffic movement in the district. He thanked the volunteers for conducting the procession smoothly.
