Demanding to put a complete ban on the sale and use of firecracker in Ladakh region, Chos ki donmay society, Leh submitted a memorandum to CEC Dr. Sonam Dawa on December 9 in Leh.

The memorandum reads, “In Ladakh celebrating the occasion by burning crackers is becoming a new trend but that is not our tradition. It is time for us to restore our culture and not let such interference ruin the land of passes which was based on eco-friendly measures.”

The members requested Dr. Sonam Dawa, CEC to pay prompt attention and timely action to this growing menace.
