For film enthusiasts the three day 3rd Ladakh International Film Festival has begun at Leh with its inaugural function held at Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra on 27 June 2014. The festival was graced and chaired by H.H. Thuksey Rinpoche and was attended by eminent film makers and actors like Rakyesh Om Prakash Mehra, Amol Gupte, Deepti Naval, Shrawan Kumar and dignitaries from Korea including Acting Ambassador Taein Chung were present.

The three day festival includes screening of movies like ‘Rangbhoomi’ by Kamal Swaroop as the opening film at SSK. The film is based on Dada Saheb Phalke’s days in Banaras and his tryst with theatre.

Green Carpet premiere of Transformer -4 but the screening could not take place because of some technical fault. However ‘Bollywood greatest love story’ and Ugly movie (Asian Premiere) by Anurag Kashyab was also screened on 28th June at Druk Padma  Karpo School Shey.

Speaking on the inaugural function CEO Children Film Society of India (CFSI) Shrawan Kumar said that FSI has been giving platform and promoting children films for the last 59 years and has been encouraging young talents to take up film making at a young age and spread various messages to the world through this medium.

Korean Ambassador Taein Chung expressed that holding of such festivals not just help promoting the film but also strengthen the bonds between different countries and different film fraternities. Such event gives opportunity to share thoughts and ideas and develop mutual understanding.

The Chief Guest of the occasion H.H Thuksey Rinpoche while welcoming all the digniteries to Ladakh highlighted that cinema is a medium of learning about different cultures. He further added that Ladakh has a unique culture and identity and the responsibility lies upon the youth to preserve and protect the inherited culture.
Deepti Naval while paying homage to Late Farooq Sheikh highlighted about his contribution in the film world and shared her experience of working with Farooq Sheikh as a co actor.

Meanwhile during the event Korean art and calligraphy exhibition and screening of four Korean Films was also part of the LIFF.
 
At Druk Padma Karpo School childrens performed folk dance and Kargil War enactment, which charmed everybody present there.
