A District Level Shina/Dardi Hussaini Mushaira was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Kargil at the premises of Government High School Chanigund on December 02 in which 14 senior as well as novice poets of Shina/Dardi language across Kargil district participated. The poets enthralled the audiences with their poetic compositions while renderings praise and paying rich tributes to the martyrs of Karbala, and reflecting upon the philosophy of martyrdom.

Chief Education Officer, Kargil Muhammad Ali Bhuttoo was the chief guest while Muhammad Ismail Bajee (KAS) Retired Additional Secretary J&K Government was the guest of honor on the occasion.

The poetic sitting was presided over by the noted Shina/Dardi poet and scholar Ghulam Ahmad Khan Jawan while the poets who presented their poetic renderings included Muhammad Asgar Asvi, Ghulam Qadir Zaki, Raza Amjad Badgami, Molvi Neyaz Ahmad Neyazi, Haji Muhammad Hassan Kaksari, Feroze Ahmad Chirag, Muhammad Shafi Sagar, Ghulam Ahmad Khan Jawan, Abdul Majeed Sehra, Najaf Ali Kaksari, Mukhtar Zahid Badgami, Farooq Ahmad Noorie, Muhammad Yasin Ansari and Khursheed Ahmad.

Speaking on the occasion Muhammad Ali Nowsheen congratulated the participants for their efficient description of poetic renderings and J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Kargil for successfully organizing this Shina/Dardi Hussaini Mushaira. He also said that the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A.S) and his 72 companions at Karbala guide us to imbibe lessons in our daily lives to make the world a better place to live in. While underlining the importance of using ones mother tongue in everyday conversation he said that vernacular expressions are taking a backseat due to the influence of the outward linguistic influences.

Muhammad Ismail Bajee in his speech said that Karbala gives the message of unity and brotherhood and inspires people to fight against cruelty and tyranny for the sake of truth and virtue.  He further added that the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A.S) was not for one sect, religion or community but for humanity.
    
Earlier in his welcome speech Muhammad Ali Tak, Cultural Officer, Kargil gave an overview of the initiatives being taken by the Academy unit at Kargil for the promotion and preservation of Shina/Dardi language said that this poetic sitting was organized with the objective to provide platform to the Shina/Dardi poets across Kargil District to pay rich tributes to the martyrs of Karbala and to reflect upon the philosophy of martyrdom.

Ali Tak added that as far as religious poetry in Shina/Dardi language is concerned Ghulam Ahmed Jawan in his poetic collections Tralo and Bijone and Raza Amjad Badgami in Jill-e-Zahra have compiled numerous masterpieces of religious poetry besides several other poets are also expected to produce their poetic collections soon.

He further said that the Academy has always shown interest in Shina/Dardi language as well as other regional dialects of Kargil region to flourish and remain intact in terms of vocabulary, vernacular expressions and other essentialities.

Among others who were present on the occasion included poets, writers, district officers, staff and students of Government High School Chanigund  and a large number of general public.
