Conference, poetic symposium for the development of Ladakhi language held in Leh

A one day conference on Ladakhi Language ‘Young Writers’ was held on June 26 at Lotsava Auditorium, Culture Academy Leh. The day was organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Leh in collaboration with Culture and language Welfare Society, Leh.
The main motive of the conference was to develop the Ladakhi language and to interact with the alumni of CIBS students to work together for its development.
Chief Guest of the occasion, Geshes Konchok Wangdus, Director, CIBS Choglamsar focused on the development of the interesting age-old tales and stories of Ladakh.
“If our tales are written as a comic book in Bhoti script than the language can be developed in a better manner. School students should be encouraged for the use of Ladakhi language in homes rather than English or Hindi", said Geshe Wangdu.
He further added that essay writing competition should be organised in different schools of the region.
Thupstan Norbu, President Culture, and language Welfare Society, Leh said, “To develop and promote Ladakhi language everyone should work together for its achievement. It is among the ten science of Knowledge which is to be protected and progressed at the right time. People should encourage those who know the language for its further development.”
Tsewang Paljor, Special Officer, Culture Academy Leh, said that CIBS students are the one who preserve and develop Bhoti language in our society. It is the right time to develop the language as many students who are studying outside are showing their interest in it.
He also said that the society consists of CIBS ex-students so they have all kind of specialty in Ladakhi language and should work for its development in the society.
Urgyan Dadul said that we lack people when it comes to the development of languages, culture, and tradition in our society.
Sonam Dorjay, Councillor, Lingshet Constituency announces ₹30,000 from his salary and ₹1lakh from CCDF fund towards the development of language to the society.
A discussion session was held in which everyone shared various ideas like sign boards should be written in Bhoti, publishing comic book, newspaper, and books in Bhoti script for the development of Ladakhi language.
At the end, a poetic symposium was held by the young writers.
