The zonal level inter-school tournament for Higher Secondary and High Schools of Khaltse zone begins at GHSS Khaltse on May 26.

The tournament was organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Leh. A total of 364 students from various Higher Secondary and High Schools in Khaltse zone participated in the tournament.

Councillor Khaltse, Lobzang Sherab spoke about the importance of sports in education as well as for the benefit of health. He advised all the students to participate in District, State, and National level tournaments. Further, he added that sports play a vital role in education, fostering discipline, teamwork, and character development, while also promoting physical fitness and overall well-being.

During the opening ceremony of the tournament, a final football match was played between Higher Secondary School Khaltse (Girls) and Higher Secondary School Temisgam (Girls) in which Higher Secondary School Khaltse (Girls) won by 0-1.

Physical Education Master/Incharge from DYSS Leh, Tsewang Rigzin, and Physical Education Teacher Incharge of various Higher Secondary and High Schools of Khaltse zone were present.

Tehsildar Khaltse, Tanveer Ahmad; Naib Tehsildar Khaltsi,Mohd Yousuf; Executive Engineer PWD Khaltse; Tashi Namgyal, Block Medical Officer Khaltsi; Dr. Nurboo Angchuk, Principal GHSS Khaltse; Padma Yangchen, Zonal Education Officer Khaltse; Sonam Dolker, Incharge SHO Khaltse; Ghulam Rasool and Agriculture Extension Officer Khaltse, Kunzang Dolma were present on the event.
