Youths to come on streets if recruitment process delayed further: ALUYA
All Ladakh Unemployed Youth Association along with student bodies raised the issues of the growing unemployment crisis in the region.
Addressing a press conference, Tundup Thinlas, President ALUYA said, “It has been more than two years and so far not a single job was created or notified. Narratives are being built up that in UT Ladakh recruitments have been started through examination and filling up of some vacancies.
We need to understand that these posts are created based on SRO under the erstwhile state of J&K, but under the new UT setup, not even a single new post has been created. Earlier we had a domicile issue, now we have a resident certificate (RC) as a domicile. The recruitment process is being delayed deliberately”.
“We could understand that today we have no board for state and division level posts, but for district cadre posts we have both recruitment rule and board. We requested Hill council multiple times as it comes under the council. Except for assurances, nothing is happening. Today unemployment has become the most serious issue in the UT and seems no one is bothered”, he added.
Advisor Umang Narula convened a meeting with SSC to conduct the recruitment of state and divisional cadre posts. ALUYA said that the step is ok for the time being, but permanently surrendering it to SSC is not a wise decision. They said that like all other states and UTs, Ladakh must have its board for these posts. They also highlighted the need of creating a separate PSC named, ‘Ladakh Public Service Commission’ to recruit gazetted level posts in the UT.
The unemployed youths of Ladakh feel that the leaders are just counting on the number of posts at various platforms with no implementation on the ground.
Lobzang Spaldan, Chief Coordinator LEAF said, “Even after two years the administration says that UT is a baby, in this time frame even baby starts speaking and walking if fed properly”.
He said that the administration has assured to stop outsourcing, but on the other hand, outsourcing is going on. Unfortunately, the number has crossed a thousand, still outsourcing advertisements are circulating.
“I was often threatened by some of the outsourcing-based recruited candidates and they say that they will be regularised no matter what I do. As a student representative, my job is to highlight the issues. We have requested CEC to look into the matter as some are trying to get themselves regularised by using the backdoor entry and departments may have such loopholes’, he added.
Youths of Ladakh request administration to start recruitment process at the earliest as many are getting depressed and facing many difficulties. They threatened to come on the streets if the recruitment process delays further.
