World Tuberculosis day observed at CHC Sankoo
World Tuberculosis Day, themed, ‘Yes! We can end TB!' was observed at Treatment unit 2nd Community Health Center Sankoo on March 24.
As per the official figures, there are some 38 cases that are under treatment at TU 2nd CHC Sankoo, while 12 cases are going under treatment in Sankoo Block.
Tohir Hussain Sagar, PRI member, Sankoo highlighted the significance of the day and said the day is observed annually to raise awareness among people about the health, financial, and societal consequences of TB.
The resource persons included Dr. Tariq Inayat, Stanzing Dolma, Najuma Banoo.
Talking about the importance of celebrating World TB Day, Medical Officer, Dr. Tariq Inayat said that the day is commemorated to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of TB and step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic.
CHO of H&WC Barsoo, Najuma Banoo said on this day in 1882, TB Bacillus was discovered by Dr. Robert Koch, a German Bacteriologist for which he was awarded Nobel Prize in 1905.
BMO Sankoo, Dr. Ghulam Hussain highlighted the importance of the day and talked about the measures being taken worldwide to eliminate tuberculosis.
