World Tourism Day: Cleanliness drive held at Itchoo Pangbar Broq
Celebrating World Tourism Day, the Tourism Department Kargil, in collaboration with Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department Kargil organised a cleanliness drive at Pangbar Broq on September 27.
The drive was carried out under the themes of “Tourism & Green Investment,” “Travel for Life,” “Swachhta Hi Seva,” and “Swachhta Pakhwada.”
Assistant Director Tourism, Aga Syed Toha mentioned that Pangbar village marks the final destination in the Barsoo Nallah region and boasts significant untapped tourism potential.
He stated that the Tourism Department has facilitated homestays for the local residents and encouraged them to maintain these accommodations for tourists while also utilizing them as a source of income. The Assistant Director further inspired the villagers to embrace a lifestyle centered around cleanliness and hygiene.
He mentioned that the Tourism Department is actively scouting additional tourist destinations. The Assistant Director emphasized the importance of tourism in promoting cultural exchange, driving economic growth, and facilitating sustainable development.

Block Development Officer, Barsoo, Ahsan Ali initiated the collection of soil from various households as part of the 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' campaign, which was launched by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. During the event, they also took the pledge of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh.’
