Workshop on implementation of energy-efficient building, insulation technology held
One-day workshop on energy-efficient buildings and insulation technology for public work engineers was organised by CPWD Ladakh at DC Conference hall on May 5.
Commissioner Secretary, PHE/I&FC, Ladakh, Ajeet Kumar Sahu in his address highlighted the need for energy-efficient building and insulation technology. He stressed the need to adopt sustainable practices and the right approach which is data-driven based on a scientific approach.
Insulation and low energy buildings with geothermal exchange and solar hybridization was the main theme of the day.
Deputy Commissioner, Leh Shrikant Balasaheb Suse stressed that the mandate of this workshop is to provide maximum benefit to the beneficiaries and thanked CPWD for organising this workshop. He further added that Ladakh is blessed with ample Geothermal energy and added it can be used for energy-efficient buildings and insulation and reducing the load on the grid.
P.C. Tanoch, CE, PW (B&R), Ladakh spoke about the heating requirements of buildings in Ladakh.
Chief Engineer and Executive Director CPWD Ladakh, Pradeep Gupta also addressed the gathering and added that CPWD will work for hand in hand with UT Ladakh Administration to utilize Ladakh’s natural and renewable resources to their maximum level.
Later, MD, S.A.P. Automations India Pvt Ltd, Arijit Ghosh gave a detailed presentation on low energy techniques in achieving Nearly Zero-Energy Building (NZEB) where he spoke on Climate Change and buildings, the context of design in buildings, sustainable development goals, renewable energy of world forum, policy and strategy, performance and not a certification, heating (De-carbonized), emission comparison, plan with modern de-carbonized techniques etc.
Rajesh B Kondle, Vice President and Head Building & Factories FAST L&T Construction and his Deputy General Manager (DGM) contracts B.R.Karthikkeyan, presented on the Integrated Hybrid Modular Construction Technology (IHMCT) as part of their Fast Track Construction Technologies. The technology takes cognizance of off-site Construction & Modular Design. DRDO in collaboration with L&T has constructed a 1.3 L square feet G+ 6 Floor, FCS facility in Bangalore in a record of 45 days.
