Workshop for NGOs on Social Welfare Schemes held in Leh
Two-day workshop for NGOs of Leh district on Social & Tribal Welfare schemes, the Role of NGOs, and funding patterns was held on September 29.
Deputy Chairman/EC Social Welfare, Tsering Angchuk; Commissioner Secretary Social & Tribal Welfare, Padma Angmo; DC Leh, Shrikant Suse; DSWO Leh, Nilza Angmo, and representatives from Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, GoI, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, and various NGOs attended the event.
CEC Gyalson appreciated the Social & Tribal Welfare Department Ladakh led by Secretary Padma for organising this workshop to aware the NGOs of various schemes from the government. He stated that all the active NGOs are effectively contributing to laying a strong foundation for the newly set up UT of Ladakh.
CEC Gyalson requested all the NGOs to work in close coordination with the Administration to avoid duplicity while executing developmental projects. He further hoped that the workshop would be fruitful for all the participating NGOs.
Deputy Chairman Angchuk informed that many NGOs in Leh are working efficiently and equally contributing to the collective development of the society. He also appreciated the efforts of Secy Padma in conducting awareness camps on govt. schemes and capacity-building workshops in various departments including Higher Education, Social Welfare, Information, and Skill Development.
Commissioner Secretary, Padma Angmo in her address stressed the fact that the success of any social welfare scheme depends largely on the implementation by the social organizations. Prevalent of a number of NGOs in our society has been proving beneficial and the effort of the department is also to assist them through GoI’s funding. Appreciating the contribution in the field of education by NGOs, she stressed the need to focus on accessibility both in terms of education and disability.
