UT Ladakh ranks first in FMD vaccination Secretary Ravinder Kumar applauds animal husbandry staff for the effort
A total of 79,098 cattle was tagged and vaccinated against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), thus making UT Ladakh top among all Union Territories of the country.
Secretary, Animal/ Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Departments, UT Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar felicitated the field staff of the Animal Husbandry Department, Leh under the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP), at the Livestock Development Office (LDO), Chuchot Shamma, Leh on January 11.
National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) aims to eradicate FMD and Brucellosis in livestock by 2030. The programme was implemented in UT Ladakh between October 2, 2020, and November 15, 2020. Despite the topographical challenges and shortage of staff, the Animal Husbandry department covered 94% of livestock.
Ravinder Kumar applauded the efforts of field staff and officials of the animal husbandry department. He lauded the tireless service and functioning of the department, and also expressed hope to see the department continuing the great work.
Director, Animal/ Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Departments, UT Ladakh, Dr. Mohammad Raza apprised the Secretary of all the activities carried out by the department. He also congratulated the officials and staff of the department.
Assistant Director, Fisheries, Mohammad Amin; Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO), Leh, Dr. Mohammad Iqbal; CAHO Kargil, Dr. Fida Hussain; Deputy Director, Pashmina Goat Farm, Upshi, Dr. Morup, and other doctors and officials of the department were also present during the felicitation ceremony.
