Traffic Police Ladakh launches e-challan for traffic violators

Traffic Police Ladakh challaned nine vehicles under different MV Act violations during the launch of the e-challan system on November 1 in Leh 
The e-challan system was virtually inaugurated by Lt. Governor R.K.Mathur on 31st October. 

Inspector-General of Police, Police Head, UT-Ladakh, S.S. Khandare-IPS; DIG Ladakh Range, B.S.Tuti-IPS were present during the launch of the e-Challing system.

SP Traffic Ladakh, M.R. Giri said that it is a data-integrated system linked with ‘Vahan’ and ‘Sarathi’ applications, which cover all major functions of the transport and traffic enforcement wings with several user-friendly features.
 
He expressed hope that the project would bring transparency, accountability, and swiftness in the existing system and provide ease of operations for the traffic policemen to increase visibility in operations by connecting all stakeholders through a common system to ensure data integrity, reliability, and transparency in traffic management. E-challan had offerings for multiple stakeholders and the traffic department would improve their support in maintaining compliance for citizens.
 
National Informatics Centre (NIC) Ladakh, UT Informatics Officer, Phunchok Paldan spoke about features and technicalities of e-challaning. 

SP Traffic thanked J&K Bank Zonal Manager Leh Tsewang Dorjay for collaborating with the traffic department by providing e-Challan machines and NIC for the execution of this project.

He further expressed his satisfaction on improving the visibility and efficient monitoring of offenders, types of offenses frequently committed, payments received on time, less physical chasing, digitization, and documentation of records. The e-challan project is a comprehensive digital solution for the traffic police.
 
DySP Traffic, Rigzin Sandup- JKPS, DTI Leh, Rigzin Wangchuk, and other officers/officials of traffic police were also present.
