Sindhu Darshan Maha Utsav attracts 1,345 pilgrims in Leh

The 22nd annual Sindhu Darshan Maha Utsav attracted 1345 pilgrims from different parts of India on the bank of Indus River taking the holy dip on June 24 in Shey.
The festival was organised by Ladakh Phandey Tsogspa, Leh and Sindhu Darshan Yatra Samiti for four days from June 23 to 26.
Ven. Shatup Chamba, President, Ladakh Gonpa Association was the chief guest on the main function. Sharing the importance of Indus River and its religious value, he said, “The river water is valued not only by the people of Ladakh but by the people from around the nation. He stressed upon keeping the river water clean.”
Indresh Kumar, Senior Pracharak and member of the national working committee of the RSS said, “The Sindhu festival is a symbol where both Buddhist and Hindu come under one roof to celebrate. Reciting the mantras of other religion will not change one’s identity it will instead unite us together and make a true citizen of the country”.
Bhaiya Ji Joshi, General Secretary, RSS said, “The devotees came to celebrate the festival here in Ladakh as the Sindhu river pilgrimage completes only by reaching Ladakh. People should protect the river as well as the country and stay united.”
Gyal P Wangyal and Mumtaz Hussain, Executive Councillors, LAHDC Leh, Tsewang Gonbo, President, BJP Leh, Tsering Samphel, President, DCC Leh and other dignitaries were also present. Cultural performances from different parts of India were also showcased.
