Shaurya Gatha mountaineering and trekking team finishes 16 days-long expedition Completes 160 km long high-altitude trek, summits Kang Yatse peak
Shaurya Gatha Mountaineering Expedition and trekking team of 19 individuals representing Parashu Warriors of Fire and Fury Corps of the Indian Army completed a challenging 160 km long High-Altitude trek from Hemis Monastery to Tsomo Riri besides summiting Kang Yatse peak at an altitude of 6200 meters on August 25.
The expedition was conducted from August 10 to 25 and was a true test of the physical endurance, mental stamina and survival skills of these soldiers on the treacherous terrain and heights ranging from 14000 to 21000 ft and subzero temperatures.
The team while engaging with community members in the remotest areas highlighted the bravery of soldiers of Ladakh, who have made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation.
The team also organised a painting competition at Shang Middle School and ensured medical assistance to the remotest villages of Ladakh of Shang, Sumdo, Chokdo, Rumtse and Kyamar as part of the building efforts of the Indian Army and thereby reaffirming the trust of the community members.
