Secretary, Tourism, chairs meeting to discuss participation of Ladakh in  travel shows

Secretary of Tourism and Culture Department, Vikram Singh Malik, chaired a meeting on May 13 with tourism officials and stakeholders. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the participation of the UT of Ladakh in various domestic and international travel trade shows scheduled for the year 2024-25.

The stakeholders suggested that the UT Administration should participate and facilitate the participation of all stakeholders in at least two international tourism events,  one each in Europe and Southeast Asia to target tourists from these regions.

 It was also proposed that to have a pan-India presence, the UT administration should ensure participation in key events in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore.

Earlier, the Secretary during a separate meeting reviewed the functioning of PDMC for Swadesh Darshan 2.0 projects for the UT of Ladakh. He took stock of the scope of work, master plan, DPR, bid process management and other relevant aspects of the SD 2.0 projects in Leh and Kargil districts. 

The Secretary instructed the PDMC to provide appropriate feedback on the observations raised by the Tourism Department about the project DPRs submitted to the Ministry of Tourism to decide further course of action.

The meeting was attended by the Director of Tourism, Ladakh; AD Tourism, Leh; AD Tourism, Kargil; OSD/Under Secretary Tourism Department; Tourist Officer, Zanskar; President, ALTOA; President ALHAGHA; President AKTTA, besides other concerned officers/members
