Sankoo campus and CHC Sankoo observe World Oral Health Day

The Sankoo Campus of Government Degree College (GDC) Kargil, in collaboration with the Community Health Centre (CHC) Sankoo, observed World Oral Health Day on March 20 at the campus Skill Centre. This year’s theme was “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Mind.”
Dr. Najma Banoo, Dental Surgeon at CHC Sankoo, served as the key speaker and delivered an informative session on the definition and importance of oral health in daily life. She emphasized that maintaining oral hygiene is essential not only for a healthy mouth but also for overall well-being.
She outlined key oral hygiene practices such as brushing, flossing, tongue cleaning, and chewing gum, highlighting their role in preventing dental problems and bad breath. Dr. Najma also advised students to avoid sticky and sugary foods, and instead, include fiber-rich foods and fruits in their diets to promote dental health.
The session also included a demonstration by Dr. Najma and her team on proper oral hygiene techniques. Dental floss was distributed among participants to encourage its regular use.
An interactive question-and-answer session followed, allowing students to clarify their doubts and gain deeper insights into oral health care.
The event was moderated by Dr. Azra Khatoon, faculty member of the Department of English, Sankoo Campus, who also extended the vote of thanks to the guest speaker and her team for their valuable contribution.
