Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve chaired a review meeting regarding infant mortality in the district with all concerned heads on October 17.

Chief Medical Officer, Kargil, Dr. Munawwar Hussain Wazir; Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kargil, Dr. Liyaqat Ali; Deputy CMO, DIO, Paediatrician, Gynaecologist, all BMOs and officials of District Planning and Monitoring Unit (DPMU) attended the meeting.

A detailed discussion regarding infant deaths and their causes in the district was held and suggestions were given about their prevention.

DC Santosh directed the concerned officers to an intense campaign regarding infant deaths and suggested using social media as a medium to spread the information to the general public. He further directed to involve of ICDS in such campaigns. 

During the meeting, the DC Santosh also assured to take up the issue of manpower with the UT Administration.
