Red Cross Society, Leh observes World Red Cross Day
Red Cross Society, Leh observed Red Cross Day by organising an ‘Anti-Smoking and Alcohol’ programme in Girls Higher Secondary School, Leh and a ‘Blood Donation’ camp at Post Office, Leh on May 8.
Chief Guest of the occasion, ADC, Leh, Sonam Chosjor shared that the Red Cross Society is the world’s largest humanitarian network focused on protecting human life, health and dignity. He informed about the District Level Committee formed under Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) and added that within a 100 meters radius of schools there is a complete ban on the selling of tobacco and related products.
ADC, Leh, also appreciated student participants who presented speeches and skits highlighting the theme of Anti-Smoking and Alcohol.
Principal, Girls Higher Secondary School, Leh, Sohail Khan spoke on tobacco and alcohol. He also highlighted the significance of this year's theme of Red Cross Day which is ‘Be Human Kind’.
Students from Girls and Boys Higher Secondary Schools, Leh participated in the event. Various students from both schools presented speeches and performed skits based on the theme of Anti-Smoking and Alcohol.
Secretary, Red Cross Society, Leh, Skalzang Chospa; Principal, Girls Higher Secondary School, Leh; Teachers and staff; Members of the Red Cross Society, Leh and other concerned officials were also present.
Similarly, people from different walks of life came forward to donate blood at the Blood Donation Camp.
