POWERGRID donates vaccination mobile van, medical equipment worth ₹29 lakh
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) donated 1 vaccine delivery van, 12 ice-lined refrigerators and 9 deep freezers costing ₹29 lakh to Health Department, Kargil.
The materials were handed over by the Director (Personnel), Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) V.K Singh under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to EC, Health Mohsin Ali in presence of EC Tourism, Er Phunsok Tashi on June 28 at TFC Bemathang.
While expressing gratitude to the POWERGRID for providing the Covid logistics under CSR, EC Health said that the COVID-19 vaccine mobile van and other equipment donated by the corporation will improve the Covid health infrastructure and all necessary measures will be taken to provide its benefit to maximum beneficiaries.
EC Health urged the officers of POWERGRID to provide employment opportunities to the youths of Kargil in their company to address the problem of unemployment.
EC Tourism, Er Phunsok Tashi said that efforts need to be made to connect the left out rural areas of Ladakh with the National Grid, particularly the Kargil- Zanskar and Leh-Nubra line which is already in consideration.
Director (Personnel), POWERGRID V.K Singh said that apart from extending electricity across the country, the corporation has been taking all-out measures to fulfil its mandate to contribute to the society under the CSR.
Highlighting the importance of the Srinagar-Leh Transmission Line (SLTS) he said that it is very important for necessary development and other activities in the rugged region of Ladakh, further it is the mandate of the POWERGRID to connect maximum areas of Ladakh with the National Grid and provide uninterrupted electricity particularly during the 6 months of winter.
