Power department reviews progress of 220KV Nubra Zanskar Transmission Line and sub-station Reach Ladakh Correspondent
Power Development Department reviewed the 220 KV Nubra Zanskar Transmission Line and sub-station to improve reliability, quality of power, and completion of the project by October 2021.
A two-day meeting was held with R. Lakshmanan, Chief Executive Officer of REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited, Ravinder Kumar, Secretary, PDD Ladakh and other concerned officials on August 7.
The 220 KV Nubra Zanskar Transmission Line and sub-station is taken up under PMDP scheme, centrally sponsored schemes of PMDP-Urban & Rural, DDUGJY, IPDS & RAPDRD.
REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), the Project Implementation Agency gave a brief presentation on the current status of the Nubra-Zanskar transmission project. Representatives from all the executing agencies were present. The project is targeted to be completed by October 2023.
RECPDCL is also the agency providing handholding support to the UT. Secy Power. The RECPDCL team discussed the present situation and challenges faced by the power department and chalked out a way forward to make the power department independent and sustainable. This will enable improvement in reliability and quality of power supply and reduce the AT&C losses.
R. Lakshmanan informed that the implementation of prepaid smart metering will be taken up on priority which will bring in customer convenience and improve operational and commercial efficiency.
Chief Engineer, Distribution, PDD UT Ladakh, G.A.Mir; Superintending Engineer, Distribution Circle, Leh UT Ladakh, Tsewang Paljor; Executive Engineer, Leh UT Ladakh Tundup Spalzang and concerned officers were also present.
