Poll staff trained to help absentee voters
Returning Officer/ District Election Officer, Santosh Sukhadeve and Assistant Returning Officer, Sonam Nurboo, conducted a training session for polling staff assisting absentee voters at the DC Conference Hall on May 8.
Santosh Sukhadeve urged the SDMs of the Sub Division to ensure that the entire process was completed on time and in compliance with all guidelines.
Assistant Returning Officer, Sonam Nurboo provided detailed instructions on filling out forms and envelopes for the postal ballot. He also described the various responsibilities of the polling team members.
Moreover, it was informed that 11 zones have been designated for conducting postal voting for absentee voters, including Absentee Voters Senior Citizens (AVSC) and Absentee Voters Persons with Disabilities (AVPD). This process is scheduled to commence on May 11 and conclude on May 17. Furthermore, five Postal Voting Centres (PVCs) have been established in Durbuk, Nyoma, Khaltse, Nubra, and Leh for absentee voters on essential services from May 13 to May 15.
District Level Master Trainer, Rigzin Namgyal, delivered a presentation on completing forms for absentee voters, the voting process, and ensuring proper sealing and dispatching of the ballot paper. The presentation concluded with a list of dos and don’ts to be followed while on polling duty.
