A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for six hydro projects was signed between Chief Engineer, Power Development Department (PDD), UT Ladakh, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, and Project Director, LREDA, Dr. Tsewang Thinles in the presence of Administrative Secretary, UT Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar on February 11.

The PPA for six hydro projects- already commissioned/ to be commissioned in UT Ladakh- was signed between the two in which the interim power tariff was fixed at ₹2/unit vide Government Order No:54(PDD)/UTL of 2021, Dated: 04.02.2021, from the beginning of these hydro projects until JERC prepares the tariff policy for UT Ladakh. The PDD has been directed to make payments to LREDA as per the above-notified tariff rates. In case JERC fixes the final power tariff above ₹2/unit, the PDD shall pay as per JERC tariff and vice-versa.

Administrative Secretary, PDD congratulated both the signee officers and said that the PPA was signed as directed by L-G UT Ladakh. This PPA would resolve all the issues of the staff of LREDA and would motivate the employees to work with more dedication for the smooth functioning and operation of these hydro projects.

Earlier, Project Director, LREDA thanked LG, Administrative Secretary PDD, CEC LAHDC Leh, and DC Leh for taking this decision and for supporting the LREDA in resolving their long-pending issues.
