One-day field trip to Panchayat halqa Karsha and Padum for a detailed study of government flagship schemes like MGNREGA and SBM held on May 27.

 The field trip was organised by the Department of Political Science, Government Model Degree College Zanskar. It was aimed to enhance critical thinking, and theoretical knowledge and provide practical knowledge to the students of political science.

HOD Political Science Tsewang Gailtsen briefed about the role of the Panchayati Raj system, its origin, and its functions.

BDC Chairman Lobsang Namgail shared his experiences with the Panchayati Raj system in Zanskar and also highlighted the various schemes in Karsha Block.

The students also visited Padum Panchayat Halqa and interacted with BDC Chairman, BDO, and Sarpanches at Panchayat Ghar Padum.

Lobsang Dolma Sarpanch Ufti-Pibiting highlighted the role and schemes of the Panchayat. She also stressed the importance of Panchayat in the current scenario and the role of women in politics and the political system.
