National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa celebrates Ayurveda day
National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa, Leh has celebrated Ayurveda Day themed, 'Ayurveda for One Health' on November 10 in its conference hall.
The day was celebrated with tagline 'Ayurveda for everyone on every day i.e Har din har kisi ke liye Ayurveda' focusing on the human-animal-plant-environment interface.
Executive Councillor, (Agriculture, Art and Culture) LAHDC, Leh Stanzin Chosphel was the chief guest on this occasion.
Technical lectures on the significance of Ayurveda Day celebration and the importance of Ayurveda, Sowa-Rigpa, and other traditional medicines for public health and wellness were presented by Dr. Nawang Tangais, Dr. Tashi Stobgais and Dr. Thinlas Namgail of the Institute and student Tsering Tashi and Sonam Angmo.
Director, of the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa, Dr. Padma Gurmet presented the keynote address themed 'Ayurveda for One Health'. He emphasised the importance of spreading the knowledge of Ayurveda, Sowa-Rigpa, and other traditional medicine for maintaining good mental and physical health in today's hectic life. The knowledge of Ayurveda Ahaar (diet) and Vihaar (lifestyle) should be propagated to common citizens to maintain a healthy life.
Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the essay writing competition on the theme of Ayurveda Day.
While addressing the gathering chief guest Executive Councillor, Stanzin Chosphel congratulated the Ayush family on Ayurveda day and appreciated the effort of the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa for the preservation and promotion of Sowa-Rigpa, Ayurveda, and other Ayush systems in Ladakh.
He also highlighted the importance of Ayurveda and Ayush systems for achieving health for all in India and other developing countries.
