National Commission for Women & Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India promotes entrepreneurship among Kargil women

During the National Commission for Women (NCW) and the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad 99th programme to encourage women towards entrepreneurship as a career  at NIELIT, Kargil.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) and the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, jointly organised their 99th programme to encourage women towards entrepreneurship as a career, held on July 1 at NIELIT, Kargil, with support from the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT).

Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, Chairman/CEC of LAHDC, Kargil, emphasized that entrepreneurship provides a pathway to economic empowerment, particularly for women in regions like Kargil. The initiative aims to equip them with the necessary tools and knowledge to overcome challenges and thrive as entrepreneurs. Dr. Jaffer highlighted promising opportunities in tourism, handicrafts, and emerging sectors in Kargil.

He underscored the role of the National Commission for Women and the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India in igniting the entrepreneurial spirit among women through awareness programs. Dr. Jaffer stressed the pivotal role of women in economic development and encouraged their active participation across all sectors for personal and community growth

A. Asholi Chalai, Joint Secretary of the National Commission for Women, stated, "This collaborative effort marks a significant stride in unlocking the entrepreneurial potential of Ladakhi women." He emphasized that by imparting essential skills and knowledge, the initiative aims to catalyze economic growth and enhance the socio-economic landscape of the region, fostering vibrant enterprises led by women.

DC Kargil, Shrikant Suse, highlighted the program's unique opportunity for Ladakhi women to explore entrepreneurship as a viable career choice. He emphasized that the training and knowledge provided would empower women to leverage their capabilities, innovate, and contribute to the region's economic vitality.

The Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EAP) aimed to familiarize participants with the benefits of entrepreneurship, develop essential skills, and address social, economic, and familial barriers faced by aspiring women entrepreneurs. The sessions included expert-led discussions on entrepreneurship fundamentals, business opportunity identification, developing an entrepreneurial mindset, overcoming gender-specific challenges, and insights into government schemes and policies for women entrepreneurs.
