Meeting on COVID-19 prevention measures held in Kargil
Discussion on measures to deal with Coronavirus threat was held during a meeting convened by Feroz Ahmad Khan, CEC, Hill Council, Kargil with the representatives of the religious organizations and members of the Executive Council at Council Secretariat on March 9.
Feroz Ahmed Khan informed the members of the religious organizations that the process of evacuation of stranded pilgrims of Kargil to India has been started by the Government of India (GOI) as conveyed by some pilgrims from Iran over the telephone.
He said that the necessary screening of the rest of the pilgrims is underway in Iran and Hill Council, Kargil is in continuous touch with the LG Administration and MP Ladakh to facilitate their return to the country at the earliest possible.
He further appealed the representatives of the religious organizations to spread maximum awareness about Coronavirus with a special focus on the maintenance of hygiene and zero contact. Also, he appeals the general masses to avoid social and religious gatherings and to follow the precautionary measures prescribed by the authorities for their safety and the safety of others.
Representatives of the religious organizations assured Hill Council of all support and cooperation on their part to the administration in the ongoing efforts to contain COVID-19.
Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner, Kargil informed the meeting about the quarantine and isolation measures for suspected cases in the district. He said that 130 beds have been set up for quarantine while 26 beds for isolation have been arranged which would be extended up to 60 and beyond as per requirements.
Later, Feroz Ahmed Khan along with the representatives of the religious organizations and members of the Executive Council held a press conference. They expressed gratitude to the GOI for seriously pursuing the matter of stranded pilgrims.
General masses were appealed to strictly follow the advisories issued by the authorities.
