Medical, Aadhar enrollment camp for Children in Street Situations held in Leh
Painting competition and mathematics activity for Children in Street Situations (CiSS) on February 24 at Shenam Community Hall. Medical and Aadhaar enrolment camp was also held for the street children.
The programme was held as a part of the exercise to identify and rehabilitate street children in Ladakh. 26 children in street situations were present during the event along with their mothers.
An educational activity exhibition and cultural programme by Children in Street Situations (CiSS) were also presented. Children were handed over ‘educational prize kits’ comprising of drawing books, colouring pencils, and toys for the painting competition by Mission Director, ICPS and Additional District Commissioner, Leh, Sonam Chosjor.
Mission Director ICPS, Ladakh, Kunzes Angmo stated that preparation and follow up of the Individual Care Plan (ICP) for each CiSS was of utmost importance for their proper and timely rehabilitation. She stated that it was the mandate of Child Protection Services (CPS) to continue the process of identifying more CiSS in the district and to duly follow the guidelines set out by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and the other extant rules and regulations for the same.
District Child Protection Officer, Leh, Tashi Chosdol gave the welcome address. Counsellor, District Child Protection Unit, Leh, Dechen Angmo Paldan gave a detailed presentation on the regulations related to CiSS and the Individual Care Plan (ICP) prepared for each child for their rehabilitation. Programme Officer, State Child Protection Society, Ladakh, Razia Batool also gave a detailed presentation on the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS), its structure and other key provisions. Member Juvenile Justice Board, Abdul Rahim conducted the event and Chairman, CWC, Nema Stanzin concluded the event with the vote of thanks.
