LG inaugurates 90-bedded oxygen facility with Pediatric ICU ward at SNM Hospital
Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur inaugurated a 90-bedded oxygen facility with Pediatric ICU ward at the Sonam Norboo Memorial Hospital, Leh, and launched an immunity-boosting drive for 18 years and below population on August 15.
The addition of these 90 beds equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, has increased the total number of oxygen beds from 50 to 120, including 10 pediatric beds. He also informed that Ladakh’s oxygen generating capacity has been ramped up from 1000 LPM before the pandemic to 2800 LPM presently.
LG Mathur thanked the Government of India for facilitating Ladakh with all necessary amenities ever since the beginning of the pandemic. He complimented the medical fraternity for their tireless contributions and stated that the high level of testing and collective effort for vaccination has proved helpful for Ladakh.
He applauded the Departments of Mechanical and Public Works for working round the clock to develop the required infrastructure and installation of the machinery in record time. Stressing on the importance of further improving public health in Ladakh, he stated that considering Ladakh’s sparse population, the medical department must strive to cover the entire population with immunity vaccinations and tests and stated that the future of Ladakh lies in the development of mobile hospitals and telemedicine.
