Leh gears up for Measles-Rubella and National de-worming campaign

To discuss the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign to be held in the coming days, a combined meeting of District Task Force of Measles-Rubella (MR) Campaign 2018 and National Deworming Day (NDD) was organised on August 4.
It was organised by Health and Family Welfare Department, Leh under the chairmanship of Moses Kunzang, ADC, Leh at Conference hall, Leh.
Moses Kunzang talked about the importance of the campaign and a wide awareness of the campaign.
To frame proper planning for awareness, he invited suggestions from the house. He assured the support of District Administration and requested the educational institutions, religious organisations, concerned departments and the general public for their cooperation.
Dr. Tashi Namgyal, District Immunization Officer explained in detail about Measles-Rubella campaign through a short film and a power-point presentation.
The campaign is an effort targeted to reach 410 million children across the country from the age of 9 months to 15 years. Nearly 80% of the children will be reached by carrying out vaccination campaigns in schools, villages, urban mohalla/wards, mobile/special team, Anganwadi and Health Centres.
Dr. Tashi Namgyal said that the universal coverage will ensure all children are vaccinated irrespective of their previous vaccination status or infection. Leh district has the target population of 33,000 for the campaign.
Dr. Motup Dorjey, Chief Medical Officer, Leh coordinated the meeting and gave a power-point presentation on National Deworming Day to be held on August 10 for children aged 1 to 19 years.
He then expressed hope for the full cooperation of all the stakeholders for the sake of preventing our children from various diseases by actively participating in both the campaigns.
Dr. Tsering Samphel, Medical Superintendent SNM Hospital Leh and numbers of doctors, principal of various schools, religious heads, HODs and employees of the concerned departments were present.
