LEH :
A meeting regarding the National Food Security Bill took place at Chowkhang Vihara,Leh on 15th December where the final decision on whether to fill the new form or not was decided.

All the religious heads of the communities, political party representatives, Ruth Mary Assistant Director,  CA&PD, Goba, Sarpanchs of the district were present during the meet.

The meeting came to a conclusion that the new ration form will be filled but only the details on the front page will be given. Assistant Director, Ruth Mary Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution also spoke during the meet and briefed the people about the new ration form.
She said that though the scale of the ration has been reduced but this new ration form will make sure that there is no duplicity in ration cards. The bill had been implemented in the state during the PDP-BJP coalition party. The respective party representatives of PDP and BJP guaranteed the people present that nothing unexpected will happen to the public if they fill up the forms and submit it.

However, everyone unanimously agrees that the scale of the ration should not be reduced. The religious heads appealed to the political parties and the administration to see if the scale can be maintained as before. The appeal was also made to change the last date of submission from 31st January to April as many of the families are not in Ladakh presently.

At the end, the sarpanch and gobas clarified their doubts regarding the new form with the concerned authorities. However, discontentment was also seen as no one from the Hill council had come for the meeting.
