LAHDC Leh donates school bus to Government Council Model School Ayu Sabu

In a significant step toward strengthening the education sector, the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh donated a new school bus to Government Council Model School Ayu Sabu on March 27. The bus was formally inaugurated and flagged off by Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve; Chief Planning Officer Tsewang Gyalson; Superintendent Engineer PWD, Dorjey Gyatso; Chief Education Officer Sonam Wangchuk; SP Rigzen Sangdup; ZEO (Education); Headmaster Gurmet Zangpo; along with parents, teachers, students, and other officials.

The school administration and parents expressed heartfelt gratitude to the CEC and LAHDC Leh for not only providing the school bus but also supporting infrastructure upgrades, including a solar power project. They also appreciated the efforts of the Education Department in bolstering government schools across the district.

During the event, some development-related concerns were raised by the school community, which were acknowledged by the officials present.

Addressing the gathering, CEC Tashi Gyalson congratulated the school on the new bus and reiterated that education remains a top priority for the Council. He announced that the Government Council Model School is now open to students from beyond Sabu village, including those from Leh, owing to its strong academic performance. He assured that the school would receive the best faculty, upgraded infrastructure, and improved security. He also committed to completing the construction of the compound wall, finalizing the solar power project, and expediting other pending works.

Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk assured the school of full support from LAHDC in addressing its concerns. He emphasized the need for continuous improvement of school facilities and pledged to raise the matter with higher authorities.

DC Santosh Sukhadeve commended the school for its growth and reaffirmed the administration's commitment to enhancing government educational institutions. He highlighted the importance of collaboration among teachers, parents, and the wider community in building a strong educational environment.

Headmaster Gurmet Zangpo underscored the transformative power of education and encouraged teachers to maintain a focus on quality instruction, while urging parents to stay actively engaged in their children’s academic journey.

With continued support from the government, educators, and the community, Government Middle School Ayu Sabu aims to achieve new milestones in both academic excellence and holistic development.
